The Lycienne coast: depart to discover the vestiges from an original civilization: It is a region and a sanctuary founded by Anatolian native-born people, Lyciens, who were influenced by the Greek world and the Persian world.
This special place is a point to observe the essential of the history of the Eastern Mediterranean civilizations since 1st millenary before JC until the Middle Ages.
It should be noted that the sites of Xanthos and Létôon form one of the most remarkable archaeological whole of Turkey and appear on the list of the World heritage established by UNESCO.
It is also a rich area of culture and history with its numerous sites such as Perge, Aspendos, Side or Termessos.
Day one: Istanbul – Dalaman – Kaunos - Dalyan (About 50 km).
From the landing you will appreciate the density of the vegetation and coast’s natural and savage area. We will leave for the small village Dalyan known as Kaunos in the past. Kaunos (Caunus) was an important port carien since the VI century before our era, accessible today by going up in boat a small river.
The discovery of Kaunos is worth as much for the well preserved vestiges of the thermal baths, the temples and the theatre so that its decoration of water and reeds islands enclosed between abrupt cliffs.

Day two : Dalyan, oludeniz, Kas (About 140 km).

Day three : Kas, Xantho, Patara, Kas (About 90 km).
Small flashback for a discovery of the site of Xanthos, undoubtedly one of best preserved area. Xanthos was the most important city of the old Lycienne Confederation.
From its past, glorious and tormented there remain especially strange monuments like the Pillar of Harpies (Vth century before J. - C.), a 5 height meters monolith overcome by a sepulchral room decorated with low reliefs and the “sarcophagus on pillar” (IVth century before J. - C.), probably two royal tombs.
You will also see there the “inscribed pillar” on which the longest inscription in characters lycians is engraved.
Only a few kilometers away you will be able to join the historic site and natural of Patara. Day four : Kas - Antalya (About 200 km).
